WHY ARE MILITARY TANKERS
ORBITING OVER OUR HOUSES?

Aerial refuelers do not loiter. They rendezvous, off-load, and leave. Yet KC-135 and KC-46 tankers, U-2 Dragon Lady reconnaissance aircraft, and unmarked military traffic keep appearing above Kern County — often at civilian-visible altitudes, often for hours at a time. Every ping below is a public FAA ADS-B broadcast. The pattern is the story.

QUESTIONS WE ARE PUTTING ON THE RECORD
  1. Refuelers exist to top off aircraft that are going somewhere. What mission in or near Kern County requires sustained aerial refueling capacity overhead?
  2. U-2 Dragon Lady is a strategic reconnaissance platform designed for overflight of denied airspace. Why is one repeatedly recorded above Bakersfield, Oildale, Delano, Shafter, and Taft?
  3. Are these aircraft maintaining orbit over civilian Kern neighborhoods — a persistent racetrack pattern — or are they merely transiting to Edwards, China Lake, or the R-2508 complex?
  4. Which agency is receiving the fuel, and which agency is receiving the imagery? Neither answer has been published to the public served by that airspace.
  5. Under what statute is a domestic military intelligence platform authorized to collect over the homes, schools, and hospitals of a U.S. county with no declared emergency?
  6. If the answer is "training," publish the training plan, the ROE, the collection rules, and the retention/destruction schedule for any data incidentally captured.

These are questions, not accusations. The evidence below is the reason the questions are being asked.

METHODOLOGY

Every row above is derived from FAA ADS-B broadcasts on 1090 MHz — unencrypted public radio transmissions that any hobbyist receiver can decode. "Military" is set by the FAA registry / Mode-S hex block. Callsign filters follow published USAF squadron conventions. County scoping uses reverse-geocoded coordinates against Kern County GIS boundaries. No classified source, no leaked material.

OPINION FIREWALL

The tables are fact — public broadcasts from public aircraft. The framing — that the pattern is unusual and demands an answer — is the opinion of The Watchtower Project. This page raises questions on a matter of public concern under the First Amendment and Cal. Civ. Proc. Code § 425.16. Corrections and counter-evidence are welcomed via the Legal page.
